Pelvic Health through Telehealth
Pelvic Floor Dysfunction is devastating, and waiting until the world is right to deal with it is probably not your best defense mechanism.
COVID-19 forced us to implement our Telehealth program sooner than what we had planned, and that proved to be quite positive. I was pleased with the number of clients who did try it, but surprised at how many have shown reluctance. π₯
After giving this some thought, my best guess was that most felt an in office visit was the ideal way to be fully evaluated for Pelvic Care. While this may be true, making a Telehealth appointment for those symptoms is a great way to get started. And, since Telehealth is done in the comfort of your own home it eliminates any anxiety you may have about a pelvic exam. π
Here is one way to look at it. I don't actually have the capability to see your pelvic floor musculature anymore in person than I do with Telehealth. The most important part of the exam is when you tell me what's going on for you, what your goals are, what you need. I can do that perfectly virtually. π
Pelvic Floor Dysfunction is devastating, and waiting until the world is right to deal with it is probably not your best defense mechanism. In fact, I think it's your worst. And some of you may not agree, but I come from a place of struggle with pelvic floor dysfunction and low back pain myself, for many years. Pretending itβs not there is not going to make it go away. π©
Depending on what is found during your initial virtual evaluation, an individualized exercise program can be created for you that may include stretching the pelvic girdle muscles, strengthening of pelvic, abdominal, hip, and back muscles, breathing and relaxation techniques, and functional activities aimed to retrain your muscles. π
Yesβ¦..this can all be done virtually from the comfort of your home.
My job is to empower you and give you strategies to hold you accountable. Using Telehealth visits, we can observe your movement, teach you new exercises, and give real-time feedback and updates according to your needs. π
If you are wondering if Telehealth is a good fit for you, contact us and we will help determine your best options.
