Your Brilliance Is In Your Resilience
What is resilience and how do we get better at it?
It's a word that I have heard more and more off the last few years and I think for many, it can feel almost shameful that they perhaps don't have resilience.
First thing I'm going to tell you is that you ARE resilient. You are amazing. You have done so much in your life that you don't even give yourself credit for. You got up this morning, you got dressed, you perhaps went to work. You looked after your children. Maybe you went out to your garden, went for a walk, did a workout. Even just made breakfast and cleared the dishes away. You have already achieved some notable things today.
But resilience is more than what we think. Many people think it means bouncing back. But it's about being resourceful, seeking opportunities, staying open to them and sometimes finding humor even in the tough times. I am definitely somebody who tries to find humor in most situations if you've ever met me. You will understand one of my favorite things to do with my clients is help them build resilience because generally speaking, I do not see people at the best times of their life. I do not see people who are doing great things and feeling wonderful. I generally see people who are feeling vulnerable, who are going through something they are struggling to deal with the changes in their life and their body. Many of us struggled with resilience throughout the COVID pandemic when we were under stay at home orders.
Do you currently have strategies that may help? If not, or if you are feeling a change is necessary, the first thing I would suggest doing is seeking help. It may be talking to a friend or finding a healthcare provider.
