Let's bring Physiotherapy to the foreground
Physiotherapy is viewed as a secondary option in a world where chiropractic and alternative care has blossomed.
I want to bring physiotherapy back to the foreground. Not me alone, but it would be kind of cool right?
Physiotherapists train for many years, doing an undergrad normally in human physiology or sports medicine, before spending time in the physiotherapy world where they work in many different areas. We work in stroke rehab, cardiorespiratory, chronic pain management, orthopedics, pelvic health, osteoporosis, mental health, pediatrics, and so on. It's a long list.
So why is it that many people look towards chiropractic care before physiotherapy?
I think it's because the chiropractic world is just better at marketing themselves than we are. It doesn't mean we are better than them or they are worse than us. It just means they've done a better job of getting themselves out there. They offer something different than us.
Diamond physiotherapy does not offer quick fixes. We don't offer you long term maintenance programs. We don't expect you to come in three times a week for the next six to 10 weeks, two times a week for 10 weeks, once a week for 10 weeks, then twice a month, once a month, and so on. We want to see you, six to eight times, and get you on a self management program that YOU can use as maintenance.
What does that mean and why do people not want to do that?
Well, what that means is you actually have to do some work. But the advantage of this is that you're in of control of your own health care for once. If I have learned anything from Covid, it is that we have very little understanding of our own health. We have become too dependent on social media, and as a result, we nearly ended up having a major disaster.
Sadly we do not get our information from reliable sources, we don't do enough research and we all too often jump on board with anything our friends say on Facebook.
I can tell you this...physiotherapy is not a panacea. We do not cure all. We offer you realistic strategies to get you back on your feet.
Why not give it a try, what's the worst that could happen?
