So What are My Options?
I regularly see patients who have been to a specialist or other health care professional and they're so confused about their options.
They feel their only choice is surgery or medication.
If I could offer a suggestion, just ask your healthcare professional and that includes me, what your alternatives are.
For example, I recently saw a woman who had pelvic organ prolapse and she had been told previously that surgery was her ONLY option. This particular client did not accept that and decided to do some research of her own and ended up coming to see me. Physiotherapy was only moderately successful, BUT we have since fitted her for a pessary. In her exact words "it has been life changing".
The client was frustrated that none of these options were brought to her attention. So I challenge you to ask your healthcare provider what other options are available to you when you are going through treatment.
One size does not fit all, and sometimes the options are far more appealing than surgery or medication.
